Experience

Richard joined Parlee McLaws as an associate in 2020 after completing his Articles with the firm.

Richard is a member of the Intellectual Property and Wills & Estates practice groups at Parlee McLaws and is currently training to become a Trademark Agent. Richard’s Intellectual Property practice centers around trademarks and copyrights where he has experience with trademark prosecution, trademark opposition proceedings, Section 45 trademark expungement proceedings, IP licensing, assignment and non-disclosure agreements, as well as copyright registrations, enforcement and online brand protection.

Richard’s Wills & Estates practice focuses on the preparation and drafting of Estate Planning documents, probating Wills and assisting his clients with the distribution of estate funds.

Prior to starting his legal career, Richard received Bachelor of Commerce (Distinction) from the University of Alberta where he studied Natural Resources, Energy and the Environment and Business Economics & Law. He is also a proud alumnus of the UofA Golden Bears Track and Field team where he primarily competed as a sprinter.
