Experience

Kaitlyn joined Parlee McLaws as an associate in 2016 following the completion of her articles with the firm, and she joined the partnership in 2023. She is an experienced litigator with a general civil litigation practice, focused specifically in the areas of insurance, energy, restructuring and insolvency, commercial disputes, construction, and labour and employment matters. As part of her insurance practice, Kaitlyn has been involved in a variety of issues including property damage, personal injury, occupiers’ liability, municipality claims, construction matters, manufacturer and distributor claims, coverage issues, and condominium claims. As part of her general civil litigation practice, she has been involved in a wide range of matters including contractual disputes, employment disputes, and bylaw and rule interpretation matters involving condominium corporations and non-profit organizations. In addition to her litigation practice, Kaitlyn is experienced in assisting clients with business matters including incorporations, bylaw and articles amendments, corporate governance matters, and the preparation of licensing and non-disclosure agreements.

Kaitlyn has represented clients before the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta. Her practice also focuses on finding cost effective and timely alternatives to appearing before the Courts, including seeking resolutions for her clients through the use of alternative dispute resolution forums.

When she is away from the office, she spends her time with her family, trying her best to keep up with her two (very busy) daughters. Kaitlyn and her family enjoy spending time in the outdoors including skating, swimming, and gardening, and generally taking advantage of the many activities Calgary and the nearby mountains have to offer.
