Iain joined Parlee McLaws’ Edmonton office as an associate lawyer in 2016 following completion of his Articles with the firm and focuses his practice in the areas of labour & employment law and insurance law.

As a labour & employment lawyer Iain has had exposure to a variety of matters including wrongful dismissal and constructive dismissal files for employees and employers as well Canada Labour Code, Alberta Labour Relations Board and Alberta Human Rights complaints.

Iain’s experience includes drafting and interpreting various forms of contracts including Employment Agreements, Collective Bargaining Agreements, Professional Services Contracts and Forbearance Agreements.

Iain also has experience with various insurance defence, subrogation and Plaintiff side personal injury actions including motor vehicle (personal injury & property damage), water loss, fire loss, occupier’s liability issues as well as insurance coverage issues. Iain’s experience also includes a variety of collections and debt actions along with judgment enforcement proceedings.

Iain has appeared before the Court of Queen’s Bench (Master and Justice) Chambers and has trial experience in the Provincial Court of Alberta. Iain has also represented clients in Pre-Trial Conferences and Mediations in the Provincial Court of Alberta and strives to negotiate mutually beneficial solutions with opposing counsel and self-represented litigants whenever possible.
