Parlee McLaws LLP is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join our team. Experience in civil litigation, insurance defence, labour & employment, or wills & estates are welcome. This role is located at our downtown Edmonton office with hours of work as Monday to Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM (37.5 hours/week). The successful candidate is a self-starter with high attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and excellent organizational skills that effectively support busy practices. There is opportunity with this role to perform paralegal work. Key requirements: Minimum 5 years of experience in a litigation role with preference for experience in insurance defence or labour & employment Highly organized and pro-active approach to meeting deadlines while producing accurate quality work Experienced in pre-trial and trial preparation of binders and limitation systems, along with document preparation (e.g. briefs and factums) Experience conducting due diligence / court searches Experience with billing and understanding of basic accounting principles Strong client service and relationship building Transcription and formatting of documents via dictation or digital forms Other requirements: Post-secondary education from a recognized Legal Assistant/Paralegal program (equivalent experience may be considered) Experience drafting pleadings, writs of enforcement, and letters Adapt to changing priorities and effectiveness in a high-volume work environment Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills Fluency in English – speaking, reading, and writing (additional languages are an asset) Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software (e.g. Worldox, Elite 3E, Remindex, SpeechExec, Adobe or similar programs) Quick learner who is curious and retains knowledge Compensation, Benefits, and Perks Compensation for this role aligns with the required experience.
