Experience Professional Activities Community ExperienceMackenzie works with individuals and businesses on wills and estates, real estate, corporate matters, and administrative and professional regulatory law. She has a particular interest in intricate estate matters, including those involving assets, family members, or connections outside of Canada. Before attending law school, Mackenzie spent approximately six years working as an estates paralegal. That experience gave her a strong foundation in estate planning and administration and a practical understanding of the issues that can arise when an estate does not follow a straightforward path. She brings that experience to her legal practice, helping clients understand what needs to be done and how to move forward when an estate becomes complicated. Her approach is shaped by a belief that everything is figure-out-able. Mackenzie starts by stepping back to understand the whole picture, then she works through the issue one piece at a time. For clients dealing with an unfamiliar legal problem, that can make the difference between feeling overwhelmed by the process and knowing exactly what comes next. Mackenzie also places considerable importance on the relationship she builds with her clients. She takes the time to understand how they communicate, what matters to them, and what they need from their lawyer. She believes that good legal work starts with listening and that clients should feel comfortable asking questions and talking through their concerns. Mackenzie is particularly well suited to matters where the answer is not immediately obvious. Her background in estates, combined with her practical and relationship-focused approach, allows her to help clients work through complex issues while keeping sight of the bigger picture. Outside of her practice, Mackenzie enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends. She volunteers with the Edmonton Community Legal Centre and serves on the Board of Infinite Woofs Animal Rescue. She also enjoys spending time with her two cats.
