Experience

After growing up in Whitecourt, Alberta, William joined Parlee McLaws as a litigation associate in 2017. Prior to this, William worked as both a summer student and completed his articles with the firm. During his articling year, William gained experience in a wide range of litigation matters including employment disputes, insurance defence, subrogation files, contract disputes, debt collection, class action lawsuits and aboriginal claims.

Prior to articling with Parlee McLaws, William graduated First Class Standing and as a member of the Dean’s List from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law. In his final semester, William was a Legal Research and Writing Fellow where he facilitated seminars teaching first year law students legal research and writing skills. While attending law school, William participated in a semester exchange at the National University of Singapore and was selected for the Health Law Moot. Throughout law school William was also an active volunteer with Student Legal Services and Pro Bono Students Canada. This volunteer work culminated in William acting as co-agent on a three day Alberta Human Rights Tribunal hearing which concluded with the written decision of Andric v 585105 Alberta Ltd. o/a Spasation Salon & Day Spa, 2015 AHRC 14. This decision obtained national media attention in both the National Post and Edmonton Journal.

William has appeared before the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, Provincial Court, Human Rights Commission and the Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service. William strives to understand his client’s perspectives and engage in appropriate dispute resolution methods to suit each client’s unique circumstances.
