Ted is an experienced litigator having appeared at multiple levels of court including the Court of Appeal as well as a variety of regulatory tribunals such as the Subdivision Development Appeal Board, the Parole Board of Canada, and the Financial Services Commission. Additionally, he was a member of the Law Enforcement Review Board for over 9 years. The LERB provides civilian oversight of policing in Alberta and hears appeals regarding disciplinary and other matters involving police/peace officers in the Province of Alberta.

Ted has worked as In-House Counsel for several major Canadian insurance companies as well as Manager of the Legal Department, Claims Manager, and Director of Casualty Claims, all of which provide him with a unique perspective on insurance matters. He routinely handles large loss matters including construction, serious personal injury, professional negligence, multi-party claims, and coverage opinions.

Ted is a firm believer in alternative dispute resolution. He completed in depth mediation training at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University. He is an effective mediator who successfully assists parties in crafting principled and fair resolutions. Additionally, Ted has acted as an arbitrator and has also received training in collaborative law for commercial and other civil disputes.

Ted has acted as legal advisor to a number of community organizations including the Trailswest Hockey Association and the Canadian Ski Patrol System. Additionally, he has been actively involved in coaching, officiating, fundraising for a variety of teams and sports including soccer, hockey, swimming, water polo, and synchronized swimming.
