Sophie joined Parlee McLaws LLP as an associate in 2017 following the completion of her articles with the firm. During her articling year, Sophie’s experience included insurance litigation, corporate law, commercial litigation, taxation law, regulatory law, and bankruptcy and insolvency law. Sophie has represented clients before the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta.

Prior to attending law school, Sophie received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Victoria and worked on an academic research project exploring the effects of socioeconomic status on children’s literacy.

While in law school Sophie was the Vice President – Administration for the Society of Law Students and the student representative for the Law Faculty Council and the Academic Planning Committee. Sophie co-founded and was an executive member of the Student Ambassador Program, a program designed to mentor incoming law students. During law school Sophie also gained experience while summering at a law firm in Banff, Alberta and the legal department of a large oil and gas company in Calgary, Alberta. Sophie took part in a business venture clinic through the University of Calgary Faculty of Law where she gained experience drafting contracts and agreements while providing new business ventures with legal guidance.
