Sharon’s practice is focused on intellectual property law with an emphasis on acquisition, commercialization, and enforcement of intellectual property rights, negotiation and preparation of various intellectual property licenses and agreements, and provision of patentability, registrability, and freedom-to-operate opinions. In addition to being a lawyer, she is a Registered Canadian Patent Agent, a Registered US Patent Agent, and a Registered Canadian Trademark Agent. She was awarded the Marie F. Morency Memorial Prize for obtaining the highest mark in Canada on the 2008 patent drafting examination.

Before joining Parlee McLaws LLP as an associate, Sharon worked at two major national law firms and a national intellectual property boutique firm. She also previously worked in the optical components group of an international telecommunications corporation.

During her legal studies, she was awarded the R.R. Leonard Prize in Cyberlaw and Policy and the P.E. Newbury Prize in Family Law. In 2003, she attended the International and Comparative Intellectual Property Law Program at Oxford University.

Sharon is fluent in spoken Cantonese and written traditional Chinese. She is also conversational in Italian.
