Experience

Nielsen began his litigation practice through articling with a large, full-service law firm in Calgary in 2021. His experience includes labour and employment law, commercial litigation, and insurance litigation. Nielsen was the corporate secretary for a Canadian global affairs thinktank, and has done corporate governance work for a variety of non-profits during his time as a lawyer.

Nielsen has acted for clients before the Alberta Court of Justice, Alberta Court of King’s Bench, and British Columbia Supreme Court. He believes all clients deserve a strong voice and passionate advocate, and strives to ensure that their voice is heard no matter the obstacles that lay in their path.

Nielsen served in the Canadian Armed Forces for nearly 9 years. Through his time in the military, Nielsen understands the importance of teamwork and cohesive leadership in an organization.

In his spare time, Nielsen is a sports enthusiast. He plays on two hockey teams during the winter, and is an avid golfer and fly fisherman during the summer. Anytime he gets an opportunity, Nielsen can be found on the Bow, Highwood or Oldman rivers, searching for that elusive trout. He is no less proud to land a whitefish whenever that happens. Nielsen believes it is important to give back to the community, and volunteers in various capacities in Calgary throughout the year.
