Payroll and Benefits Administrator
Part time Maternity leave position
Downtown Edmonton

We are seeking a Payroll & Benefits Administrator who will be responsible to collect, verify and process payroll and benefit information and determine pay and benefit entitlements for Firm employees. This position will also be responsible to enter confidential data into the HRIS system for future utilization.

Employment Period: One Year Part-Time Maternity Leave Position (Flexible 2 – 3 days per week)

Duties & Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

Payroll
• Collect, compile and enter payroll data into appropriate forms and accurately submit in a timely manner
• Review payroll on a semi-monthly basis
• Maintain and balance payroll reports and employee payroll files
• Enter payroll journal entry from each pay period
• Create related payroll payable vouchers
• Create, manage and maintain payroll reports
• Reconcile payroll GL accounts
• Process manual cheques
• Prepare conclusion of employment letters
• Assist with processing year end accurately and on a timely basis
• Prepare working papers related to payroll GL’s for year-end review
• Prepare and create monthly payments and distribute in a timely manner
• Collect rent payments in a timely manner and receipt appropriately
• Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements

Benefits
• Communicate with new employees for orientation benefit program and prepare benefit package
• Liaise with benefit providers to ensure employee information is added correctly and in a timely manner
• Process benefit enrollments, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims
• Reconcile benefits from payroll to vendor statements on a monthly basis

Position Qualifications
• Certificate or diploma in Payroll Administration would be an asset
• Minimum two (2) years of payroll experience required, preferably within a legal environment
• Experience with Ceridian automated payroll software would be a definite asset
• Experience in managing the processing of salaries, bonuses and other forms of compensation
• Intermediate experience with MS Office
• Must speak, read and write English fluently
