Parlee McLaws LLP is a well-established law firm with over 125 years of experience here in Alberta and we’re looking for an experienced Corporate / Commercial Legal Assistant to support a team of lawyers with a variety of legal and administration tasks. The ideal candidate is highly organized, takes initiative, and is customer service oriented. The hours for this position are 8AM – 4:30PM, Monday to Friday. There is an opportunity for this position to be worked partially remotely at this time as one of many precautions taken by Parlee to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Position Overview:

• Draft, proofread, finalize, and send a variety of legal documents relating to multiple types of business transactions and real estate transactions
• Ensure large volumes of time entry, preparation of accounts, and billing are completed on a timely basis
• Ensure large volumes of documents and emails are saved to each file
• Coordinate and schedule meetings and appointments
• Manage workflow for a team of lawyers
• General administrative tasks including office and file management
• Other administrative tasks as required


• 5 years or more years of relative experience legal experience in corporate law;
• Post-secondary education from a recognized Legal Assistant or Paralegal program
• Experience with Worldox and Elite is an asset but not required
• Highly reliable and possesses professional demeanor
• Understanding of basic accounting principles
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office programs
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• Exhibits superb attention to detail and is committed to producing accurate and high-quality work
• Ability to organize, prioritize work and meet deadlines with a high degree of personal initiative
• Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
• Ability to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
• Strong customer service and relationship building skills
• Readily adapt to changing priorities and effectively work in a changing and high-volume work environment
• Possess problem solving skills with a proactive mindset
• Must speak, read, and write English fluently
