Parlee McLaws LLP is a well-established law firm with over 125 years of experience here in Alberta. We are seeking an HR Manager who will partner with Parlee’s leaders and staff to provide coaching, support, and influence that will enable the effective development and delivery of people plans to support our Firm’s strategic and operational plans.  Reporting to the CAO, the HR manage provides both transformational and transactional support on HR initiatives related to the workforce and focuses on solutions that support business units across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide insight and solutions to HR related challenges for the Edmonton office, working with various leaders across the organization
  • Uphold and implement policies, plans, and standard operating procedures to support Firm objectives and strategies
  • Manage the staff workforce planning, including team assignments, time off schedules, and performance management
  • Manage the Firm benefit programs and ensure the organization’s perquisites and benefits remain competitive
  • Employ HR best practices, such as maintaining accurate records, ensure compliance with applicable legislation, and making updates as applicable
  • Recruit, screen, and hire excellent candidates for the Firm
  • Utilize the HRIS to manage data, generate reports, and increase productivity within HR related procedures

Position Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management or business administration specializing in HR or related area of study (equivalencies will be considered)
  • Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressive experience in Human Resources roles
  • Professional HR designation (e.g. CPHR) preferred
  • Experience within a legal environment or other professional services would be an asset
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office
  • Must speak, read and write English fluently
