Parlee McLaws LLP is a well-established law firm with over 125 years of experience here in Alberta and we’re looking for a Central Services Supervisor to join our Edmonton office. The hours for this position are 8:00AM – 4:30PM, Monday to Friday.

This position is responsible for the Central Services department, which provides support to all other departments by means of high volume and quality legal document production (printing, scanning, and binding), office supply procurement, internal and external mail and courier distribution, facility services and vendor coordination, and reception coverage. As part of a three person group, the ideal Central Services Supervisor can be both hands on to execute the department’s services as well as being the department’s leader to solve problems, provide coaching and development opportunities to the rest of the team, and negotiate with vendors.

Position Overview:

• Ensure a variety of legal document production incoming requests are turned around in a timely manner and end results are of high quality
• Ensure office supplies and vendor services are maintained at a consistent and sufficient level
• Coordinate facility requirements as needed, such as office moves, document storage and archiving, office repairs, and communication from the building
• Ensure incoming and outgoing mail, couriers, and other packages are tracked and distributed in a timely manner
• Manage department’s tasks to ensure reprioritization and problem solving as new requests come in
• Coordinate reception coverage as required
• Supervise, develop, and coach Central Services personnel
• Collaborate with other administration departments to execute office wide or firm wide initiatives
• General administrative tasks including office and file management
• Other tasks as required


• Several years of previous experience in a similar office services, mailroom, or facilities role, with focus on printing, scanning, and compiling large volumes of documents. Previous experience in a law firm or professional services setting is an asset.
• Previous demonstrated leadership experience
• Relative post-secondary education is an asset
• Possess professional demeanor, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office programs
• Exhibit attention to detail and is committed to producing accurate and high-quality work
• Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
• Ability to work efficiently as a part of a team, supervising a team, as well as independently
• Strong customer service and relationship building skills
• Readily adapt to changing priorities and effectively work in a changing and high-volume work environment
• Possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a proactive mindset
• Must speak, read, and write English fluently
