The Partner/Associate will be instrumental in the successful development, expansion and operation of the Business Services Practice Group. Specific skills required include:

  • advising on sales, mergers and acquisitions of businesses, corporate reorganizations, securities, corporate finance, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance;
  • providing pragmatic, cost-effective counsel to clients;
  • maintaining current awareness of issues impacting businesses and their operations to ensure clients receive superior legal advice, guidance and service;
  • having a keen awareness of issues in commercial transactions in order to assist clients in making decisions for their businesses;
  • developing and maintaining a network of contacts in the business community; and,
  • actively marketing the firm’s services to existing and prospective clients.

The individual will have:

  • 10 years or more corporate commercial law experience with the ability to bring an established book of business;
  • a commitment to the firm’s core values of honesty and integrity, client and firm first behaviour, excellence in legal abilities and client service, teamwork approach, leadership abilities and effective practice management skills;
  • a history of managing strong work and client relationships and in engaging multiple stakeholder groups;
  • an ability to communicate clearly and effectively, with excellent presentation skills;
  • an ability to analyze issues and bring sound judgment to problem solving; and,
  • effective leadership skills including the ability to motivate, coach and develop associate lawyers and students.
