A truly regional firm, our lawyers have played a pivotal role in shaping the political, judicial and industrial landscapes of Alberta for well over a century. While Sir James Lougheed founded the firm's Calgary office in 1883, the Edmonton office was founded in 1889 by Sidney Taylor. Both offices are believed to be the first law office in each city - underscoring the leadership of our founding partners and the strong, Alberta roots that reflect in our practice today.

Firm alumni include a Prime Minister of Canada (R.B. Bennett), a Senator (Sir James Lougheed), an Attorney General of Alberta (John R. Boyle), various entrepreneurial business people and more than 25 members of Alberta's judiciary. Today, former Parlee McLaws lawyers sit on the Court of Appeal of Alberta, the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta and the Provincial Court of Alberta. We are proud of our heritage and of the people who have helped make Alberta a leading Canadian economic engine, one of the best places in the world to do business, and a region that values community and corporate philanthropy.
