Experience

Greg has successfully litigated a wide variety of civil and commercial litigation matters including energy related matters.  His litigation experience includes litigating: large/complex property and business interruption claims; product liability claims; environmental claims; professional liability claims; construction claims; coverage disputes; contractual disputes; shareholders disputes; and personal injury claims. Greg’s trial and appeal experience is extensive, and he has appeared multiple times before every level of court in Alberta and been involved in several applications for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada.  Greg has also appeared before several administrative tribunals.

Greg has for a number of years been recognized by his peers in The Best Lawyers in Canada for his “high caliber work in Insurance Law, and Corporate and Commercial Litigation” and also has for a number of years been identified by Benchmark Canada in their research as “one of the preeminent litigation practitioners in Canada” and highlighted in Benchmark Canada as a Litigation Star.  Greg is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, The Trial Honorary Society.

Greg joined Parlee McLaws in 1984 and became a partner in 1990. He has served on a number of firm committees, including a term as Managing Partner of the firm’s Edmonton office before relocating his practice to the firm’s Calgary office in 2006.  He is the senior litigator in our Calgary office.
