Parlee McLaws LLP is pleased to announce that James F. McGinnis QC has become the firm’s new Managing Partner. James succeeds Jerri Cairns who directed the firm from 2008-2014.

James is a highly experienced and effective lawyer, well known for his intense commitment to excellence in the provision of legal services as well as to the community at large. James is a past president of the Edmonton Bar Association, a former board member with Edmonton Community Legal Services and serves or has served on several standing committees of the Law Society of Alberta: the Conduct Committee, the Insurance Committee, and the Finance Committee.

James began his career at Parlee McLaws in 1984 as an articling student, joining the partnership in 1989. He has served on the firm’s Advisory Committee and as Practice Group Leader for the Litigation Practice Group.

Commenting on his new role with the firm, Mr. McGinnis says: “I am tremendously honoured that the partners of Parlee McLaws have entrusted me with this leadership position. In addition to his role as Managing Partner, James will continue serving clients in his litigation practice, which is focused on major commercial litigation, insurance work and personal injury law.
